After filming at the Pork Store in Kearny, I guess Tony
and his crew got hungry. They decided to gather up all the equipment
and move to Stewarts Root Beer on River Road. Stewarts is one of the few places that still offers "car hop" service. You pull up, order, and your order is delivered to your car, on a tray that hangs off your side window. In the 50's and 60's these places were common. Today, they're a dying breed - not to mention that Stewarts has THE BEST root beer I know of. Stop by and tell Mike you saw Stewarts on this web page! Stewarts is located on River Road, just south of the Belleville Bridge in Kearny, NJ |

Actually, the evenings production schedule was scheduled and I was very fortunate to get an up-close seat for the filming that started at 9:00 p.m. and wrapped up about 3:00 a.m. ! Thanks Mike! Tony and his assistant pulled up and before filming started he ordered up a few "dogs" and a large root beer! I was sitting about 10 feet away and it doesn't get much better than this! |
| I don't usually share any details of what I might overhear as far as story lines, but this particular evenings plot was rather humorous. As you'll see from the photos the scene involved a meeting between Tony and another character who, once the season begins, you will become better acquainted with. In this scene Tony arrives and meets a guy and is visibly nervous. After they embrace, Tony asks, "How you been feeling" while he's obviously feeling the guy up for a suspected body wire. He responds, "I'm feeling fine" and Tony asks, "how's your heart" as he again pats him down for a wire. This scene was shot over and over from several angles and varying distances. I suspect it will last all of about 20 seconds and yet they spent over 6 hours filming it. Now do you wonder why there are only 13 episodes in a season? |

Here's a very candid shot of James G. between scenes. The night was cool and rainy so everyone was doing their best to keep warm and dry. |
| Most people have no idea just how much equipment has to be trucked in. The location crews often only have a few hours to transport and install and tons of lighting and sound equipment. Here's a few shots of some of the equipment. |

So in the wee hours of what was now pouring rain, Tony took some time to take a few photos with some fans. Pictured here on the left is a long time friend of mine, "Greg the Potato King" and on the right Mike's (Stewart's owner) nephew. |
