The Sopranos "On Location"

"College" - Episode 5 - Season 1

The episode begins as we find Tony and Meadow checking out colleges in Maine. These scenes were filmed on the campus of Drew University in New Jersey.

As Tony and Meadow stop for gas Tony spots someone he knows, a past acquaintance now in the federal witness protection program. Tony ends up strangling him while Meadow is checking out the school. This scene was shot at a gas station on Route 9W in Palisades, NY. The gas station was once a dealership for Indian Motorcycles and until very recently had a fully restored "Indian" neon sign on the front of the building. The sign was stolen and the owner is offering a reward for its return. Al Pacino lives right around the corner from this location in Snedins Landing, NY.

Later, they check in to a local motel said to be located in the rurals of Maine. The Sopranos filmed this scene in Northern Bergen County at the Ramapo Motor Lodge on Ramapo Valley Road in Oakland, NJ
Today, the motel is in a partial state of disrepair, probably squeezing by with weekend hourly patrons and truck drivers passing through in the wee hours of the morning.

The actual scenes were shot here in Room #20
Tony also calls back to the Bada Bing using this phone located on the property's perimeter.

Episode 4 - Meadowlands

Jackie Aprile is the acting boss of North Jersey, not to mention Tony's dear friend is laid to rest here in this cemetery in Jersey City.
In the series it's obviously the "family cemetery" as it will also be used in the beginning of season #3 when Tony's mother Livia is laid to rest. It's located on Newark Avenue, just across the street from Dickenson High School. Time has taken it's toll on this, one of Jersey City's oldest cemeteries.
