Dining With The Sopranos

Many of the locations featured on my site are just that, locations that were used in a particular scene. These restaurants were used in The Sopraonos. They are real and you can visit them! Be sure to tell the owner that you saw it on this web site!

Manolo's Restaurant
91 Elizabeth Ave
Elizabeth, NJ 07206
(908)353-7674

You saw it as Vesuvio's, the restaurant that Tony's neighbor owns. As Junior was planning a hit in the restaurant, Tony was concerned that it would be bad for his friends business. The end result was an explosion and fire that caused the restaurant to close.
In reality, Vesuvio's is actually Manolo's, a fine Spanish restaurant in downtown Elizabeth, NJ Their web site does include a view of the dining room, though I'm not certain if any scenes actually used the interior. A special thanks goes out to Mike McCormick for identifying this location. I've been wondering about this one for a long time.

Seabra's Rodizio
McCarter Highway (Rt. 21)
Newark, NJ

"In episode 25 (Knight in White Satin Armor) when Pussy is seen trying to tail Christopher as Christopher goes off on his Pokeman heist. Pussy is parked outside of a "diner" and speaking his observations into a tape recorder. That "diner" is actually the outside of Seabra's. The crew then shot scenes inside the restaurant for many hours. I am almost positive that the Indian restaurant scene in Episode 26 (FunHouse) - the one in which the crew is sitting around the table and Pussy tells Furio about how the phone card scam works - was filmed inside Seabra's." My sincere thanks to "Johnny The Gavel" for assisting me in identifying this location.
It's located on the other side of the Passaic River from Cleveland Autobody in Harrison which is the location used as Pussy's body shop.

El Cid Restaurant
205 Paramus Rd
Paramus, NJ 07652-1314
(201)843-0123

And finally, how can we forget the scene when Tony and Pussy sit down for a steak dinner after taking care of one of Christopher's assailants. As one person E mailed me, "if you looked closely, a neon sign reads "Duke's Stockyard Inn." While hanging around Satin Dolls during a shoot I met one of the people who visited my site and he solved the mystery. I was later told that the crew selected the restaurant while shooting next door at the old Paramus Pool. It was there, in the snack bar, that Tony and Pussy offered their victim a can of diet soda before perforating him!

Solari's Restaurant
River Street
Hackensack, NJ

On December 18, 2000 the crew was also spotted at Solari's Restaurant, on River Street in Hackensack, NJ The scene being filmed involved James Gandolfini's Tony and Federico Castelluccio's Furio coming out of Solari's wearing overcoats and Santa Claus hats -- and looking quite tipsy. The two then piled into a livery cab in the Solari's parking lot, as a small group of onlookers watched from across the street. Here's a photo of the event. More info on this can be found in the future episode section.

Lodi Pizza
Rt 46 W
Lodi, NJ

In the summer of 2001 The Sopranos were at Lodi Pizza filming a scene towards the rear of the building. In a conversation I had with the owner he explained that they were sitting at café tables in the rear of the parking lot. Given the popularity of Lodi Pizza to those of us who live in the area, Tony and the crew drew a lot of attention. Commemorating their visit they autographed a large Sopranos poster which hangs on the wall inside along with several photos while they were filming. Lodi Pizza has been here for as long as I remember and makes a pretty good pie! They're located on Rt 46 West about two miles West of Teterboro Airport. Stop by, have a slice or two and don't forget to mention that you saw this on The Sopranos On Location!

Pizzaland is featured in the opening credits. It's located in North Arlington on the Belleville Tpk, ½ block East of Ridge Road. Pizzaland opened in about 1962, and was originally run by two guys, "Fred" and "Ralph". Shortly after opening Ralph left and Fred ran the place until his death several years ago. Today, his son now runs the business. They're known for their thin crust pizza which has remained consistent over the years. They do mostly a take out business, though there are two tables if you decide to eat there. I can tell you that the pizza is as tasty today as it was when it first opened in the early 1960's.
